Australians spend more per person on gambling than any other country in the world - almost double that of New Zealand. We lose a staggering $16 billion per year on gambling. It is a major driver of household debt and family breakup, leaving lasting damage on our community.

Pokies represent one of the most damaging forms of gambling, with thousands of South Australian families torn apart.

Uniting Communities offers this campaign on one community as part of a larger national campaign by "Alliance for Gambling Reform" of which we are a member.

Gambling is a very sad addiction that rips families apart, and children become vulnerable victims

Jennifer Duncan, Adelaide

I'm supporting this campaign because problem gambling hurts families and children. Please decide to reduce that harm.

Leigh Newton, Bridgewater

I'm supporting this campaign as the victims are too numerous with winners being pubs and clubs and State coffers. The rubicon was crossed when pokies were allowed in private establishments, as distinct from community clubs which benefited the community with funds raised.
Be courageous! Go cold turkey on pokies' revenue.

Scott Berry, broadview

For the sake of so many in our community, we need to limit the damage from pokies

Ross Womersley, Adelaide

I support this campaign because of the enormous damage that results from problem gambling and because this is likely to be a very effective harm minimisation measure.
